Me "Allow myself to introduce......myself." -Austin Powers
Well this is the part that I tell you about myself for some odd reason. everybody does it, so I guess, why not. My parents were on the horse racing circut for years, which means I've visited just about every state except Hawaii and Alaska. Of course, i was about 8, so I don't remember anything. They tell me i played with Mafia children and even Angelina Jolie. (DARN YOU MY MIND! WHY CAN'T YOU REMEMBEER THAT!!??) Ahem....Anyway. I grew up around cowboys and rednecks. Bull riders and jockeys. One of my first jobs was working at the now destroyed Playfair Race Course. After that, I got a job at Longhorn BBQ located in Riverfront Park. Ah, the memories of throwing out old french fries after concerts and hearing the "stoners" cries of "Thanks, french fry Dude!" This is where I met my wife. She was cashier and I was Asst. Manager. It was meant to be. Later, I got a job at a comic book store. This is the place that would change my life. I met and have kept some of my best friends from there. It was like going to college, only getting a paycheck to go. I met artists, comedians, writers and actors. It was the greatest 10 years of my life. I joined the Newman Lake Fire Department in 1999 because, I thought, if something DOES happen during Y2K, I didn't want to be the guy who sits around screaming, "What do we do?!" That lasted 4 years and I received my EMT liscense during the last 2 years. I HIGHLY advise everyone to take a CPR class. Recently, my 7 month old was choking on a Penny and couldn't breathe. I don't know what would have happend if I hadn't known what to do. I've seen what happens when help doesn't arrive in time. It's a feeling you never want. Later, I got a job driving delivery car. Not knowing that a short 2 years later, I'd be working for the same radio station I listened to as I did my rounds. I've always been interested in comedy. I'm a real version of Bobby Hill. I couldn't name 10 sports stars if you had a gun to my head, but I could name 50 stand-up comedians in less then 3 minutes. My favorites have always been the "smart" ones. Carlin, Dennis Miller, Lewis Black, Colin Quinn. The ones that made you think about how ridiculous the world around us really was. I've sung on stage, opened for a comedian in college, met NUMEROUS actors and actresses, been on TV, saved a life as a FireFighter/EMT and even rode in a rodeo. (okay, I was like, 5 and I fell off the sheep as soon as it came out of the chute.). It's been a wild ride and I've still got a few good years in me. Join me on 1510 KGA for Investment with Mike Wren, Saturdays 8-9:30 am. I proud to say the show has done so well, we've been extended an extra half hour! |
